It's not an addiction unless you have to fight temptation - and believe you me, I get plenty of temptations.  No money, no space, no time, and yet I STILL find myself wanting to bring home yet another four-wheeled dependent more often than I care to admit.  Here are the most desirable apples dangled in front of my none-too-picky automotive taste buds, most recent first.
January 25, 2015 - 1990 Buick Reatta -  on Craig's List for $4400 -   V-6, Automatic, 139,612 miles, Excellent Condition, Exterior and Interior Like New. CLASSIC

CAROHOLIC OPINION: Another car from my 'Wish List' - two-seater luxury sports car with GM's bulletproof 3.8 V-6.  Distinctive looks, all the bells and whistles, and easy to get most parts for. However, this one had a sunroof, which cuts into already tight headroom.  I dithered for a week, and the owner just emailed that it was sold.  Whew! .

December 12, 2014 - 1996 Buick Roadmaster -  on Craig's List for $1100 -   1992 Buick Roadmaster,
Very clean inside and out, Runs EXCELLENT, Call for more info.  Asking 1100.obo

CAROHOLIC OPINION: Another car from my 'Wish List' - yeah, it's a pretty expansive list.  Note the ad said 1992, but this is a 1996 with the Corvette LT1 engine.  Apparently given or inherited, it was driven from New Jersey and is being used for work.  No rust, very clean, and runs great.  All the electrics work, the tires are very good, and they just want it gone - it was offered to me for $800!  I said yes, but now they are looking for the title.  We'll see what happens next

UPDATE (12/20/2014):  Guess they never found the title, as I did not get a call back and the car disappeared from Craig's List.  Whew!  Saved from myself.

December 10, 2014 - 1958 Edsel Pacer Hardtop -  on eBay with reserve -   1958 Edsel Pacer, 84831 miles, Automatic, Power Steering, Power Brakes, A/C, Push button transmission in steering wheel, Factory Dual spotlights, Awesome Color Combination, This is not a show car, but a very nice car. Petersburg, VA 23803

CAROHOLIC OPINION: One of the cars on my 'Wish List,' the right year, body style, and color combination.  If I did not have the Jaguar I would be seriously considering this.  It is just an hour away.  But I lack funds and space for another car.  That doesn't mean I am not tempted...  (Reserve not met at $16.6K)

March 11, 2014 - 1987 Jaguar Xj12 Sport Convertible/Coupe.  ($5,000 through Craig's List) -   I1987 Sport Coupe Jaguar. Hard top, soft top, and t-top. Has 80,000 original miles. Pioneer sound system, and Pirelli tires. We are the third owner of this vehicle. We have all papers for the vehicle as well.

CAROHOLIC VERDICT:  I bought it for $3200.

February 15, 2014 - 1926 Marmon Victoria Sedan ($15,000 through a car club listing) -   I'm thinking about trimming down some cars, to make room for current interests. I have a 1926 Marmon Victoria Coupe (4-pass), a full classic with CCCA. Large, powerful car with long legs and a smooth ride. Its an older 60s restoration that is presentable but needs some refreshing. It is generally in running condition. The gas tank has recently been boiled and epoxy coated, but not yet installed. Need about $15k, or $20k for this car plus a very similar but disassembled 1927 Marmon E75 Victoria Coupe and all the spare parts and stuff I have for it (including VA title). CAROHOLIC OPINION: This was a near thing.  I researched the car carefully before I went over for a look.  The car was huge and impressive, and in really good shape.  Lots of spare parts and literature were available as well.  It's a full classic, and neat looking.  Then I took a harder look at the interior and realized it was built for midgets!  Though it was called a 4-passenger, I would have been cramped, the passenger would have had even less space, and the back seat had room for one child.  Folks were a lot smaller in the 1920s!  I passed on the car, but helped sell it to a Marmon enthusiast who picked everything up a few weeks alter.
September 18, 2013 - 1976 Mustang II V8 ($6,000 on Craig's List) - I have a 1976 Mustang II for sale. Only two owners. Myself and another older couple. All paperwork since the bought date come with vehicle. 50536 original miles. This car has a 302 motor and a c4 transmission. This car came with the 302 motor v8 in it. This is very rare. The inside of the vehicle is like brand new. NO ONE has ever ridden in the rear seat. A/C and heat works fine. The car is all ORIGINAL. Everything on it came with it from the factory in 1976. This car has been garaged kept for 15 years. CAROHOLIC OPINION: I was really interested in this car until I spoke with the husband - I had thought the car was a clean all-original vehicle.  He told me the car had looked bad and they repainted it, and the vinyl top needed to be redone.  Looking closer at the pictures, I realized the 'brand new' interior had sun fading of the vinyl.  My mom had a green V8 that was a blast to drive, but it had some serious rust issues when it was ten years old.  Repaints usually cover up more than primer, so I passed this one up without even looking at it.
March 17, 2012 - Renault Dauphines (2 for $800 - stumbled on, not listed anywhere) - I stumbled onto a pair of Renault Dauphines yesterday on the MG Car Club tour I took Eleanor on.  The red one looks really solid and complete, but has had the engine and accessories removed and replaced with a large electric motor. The body does not appear to be modified in any way, and the electric motor is bolted to the differential portion of the transaxle. It has been stored inside, and looks like it would clean up to be a decent car as-is. The second car (blue) is also solid, and is supposed to have a good engine. However, it is an Automatic (run away! run away!). The interior has been disassembled but appears to be all there. The pair of cars is available for $800. The ironic thing is I used to own one (there's a photo of it on the 'Blast of the Past' page and I was just checking eBay and Craig's List for Dauphine listings this week!  The transmission issue is major, but I found someone with a complete Gordini (better engine) drivetrain for $200 in Ohio.  I REALLY do not need a weird project like this, don't have the space, don't have the money.  But still...  If YOU are interested, drop me an email (posti@aol.com) and I will provide contact information.  The cars are located near Smithfield, VA.

Follow-Up April 7, 2012 - The Dauphines nagged at me, so I did some preliminary research.  I got an owner's manual and repair manual cheap off eBay and started checking on parts availability.  Then I made the hour drive back today to look at the Dauphines again.  This time I opened things up and got a good look all over.  And decided I was NOT interested.  The cars are restorable, and there's probably 95% of what's needed to put a drivetrain together.  Both cars are later (1964-ish) models with 4-wheel disc brakes, and the engine appears to be the desirable  Gordini 'performance' version.  But the red car is a bit beat up on the outside and has a bad windshield gasket and other issues.  The blue car was partially disassembled by someone who cut the harness with dikes.  More a major project than I want to get into.

March 3, 2012 - 1966 Vanden Plas Princess ($1800 eBay Classified Ad) - 1966 PRINCESS 4 LITRE R. RIGHT HAND DRIVE. RUNS GREAT. NEEDS A MINOR RESTORATION. ALL PARTS ARE THERE ON THE CAR.6 CYLINDER ROLLS ROYCE MOTOR.. CAR IS IN VIRGINIA BEACH, VA.  IF YOUR LOOKING FOR PARTS FOR THIS PRINCESS GO TO "KIP MOTOR" THEY HAVE A LOT OF BRITISH PARTS...CALL 757-439-7717.  CAROHOLIC OPINION: This is a very rare and complete British Luxury car, but has a lot of rust and mechanical issues.  The automatic transmission slips, the power steering is not working, and it would need a total restoration.  Might be fun to play with for $800, but that's the max for this 'young man's Bentley'.  Just the rubber seals for the brake system are over $200!  Located in Virginia Beach, VA.  Unsold and still listed 3/18/2012.
